Neighbourhood

Our apartment is located in a residential part of the trendy Berlin district Prenzlauer Berg. From here you can get everywhere quickly without having to come back to a lot of hustle and bustle. Grocery stores and fast food places (great Döner) are just around the corner. An authentic Bavarian restaurant is also just down the street.

The Prenzlauer Berg is known for its thriving café and art gallery culture. Here you will find plenty of restaurants, kitsch boutiques and alternative-style bars. The popular Kollwitzplatz and Helmholzplatz are a leisurely 20-25 min stroll away, same as the Kulturbrauerei, an old brewery with shops, nightlife and a free museum about life in the DDR. Not far from there are the Berlin wall walk and Berlin wall memorial.

If you are in Berlin on a Sunday, don't miss the nearby Mauerpark with its large flea market and renowned outdoor karaoke. A must see, especially on a sunny day!

Not too far from the apartment is “Volkspark Friedrichshain”. This large and popular park, with a fairytale fountain, film showings and beer gardens, is a nice place for hanging out in the summer. For those who prefer a more active holiday it offers facilities for jogging, beach volleyball, bouldering and tennis!

Excellent public transport connections take you into Mitte in about 15 minutes, where you can visit main Berlin attractions such as the Museum Island, the Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom) or Hackescher Markt. From there you can walk to the Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial and Checkpoint Charlie.

The tram M10 and the S-Bahn connect the Prenzlauer Berg with Friedrichshain where you can visit the famous East Side Gallery, the longest still intact piece of the Berlin Wall that has been painted by graffiti artists. Friedrichshain also has some buzzing night life areas such as the Simon-Dach-Straße and the Revaler Straße with the quirky RAW Gelände.

From the East Side Gallery it is only a short walk across the river and you are in the popular Kreuzberg district, which is a great place to look out for street art, hang out in Görlitzer Park (which locals call Görli), or go out drinking or clubbing.
