Umami - Our favourite restaurant in Berlin
If you stay in one of our holiday apartments in Berlin, make sure to visit Umami in Prenzlauer Berg. This gem of Indochinese cuisine has garnered many fans since its opening on April 12, 2016, including us!
The restaurant offers a diverse selection of delicious dishes made with fresh ingredients. From appetizers to main courses to desserts, everything is tasty and beautifully presented on unique tableware. Umami also boasts a great selection of creative cold and hot drinks, such as homemade lemonades, various teas, iced teas, smoothies, cocktails, wines, and beers.
Umami stands out not only for its food but also for its ambiance. The restaurant is beautifully designed with lots of wood, plants, colorful cushions, and unique lamps. In summer, you can relax outside on large benches or in a deck chair under trees and enjoy the view of the historic water tower. In winter, the cozy seating area with small tables on the floor is particularly inviting. Every detail of the interior is thoughtfully designed, even the restroom area is stylishly decorated.
Umami is also a family-friendly restaurant with a children's menu offering kid-sized portions and prices. The weekly menu, featuring seasonal and regional products, ensures variety.
Accessibility from Our Holiday Apartments
Umami in Prenzlauer Berg is easily accessible from our holiday apartments in Berlin.
From our apartments in Prenzlauer Berg, you can reach Umami at the water tower in 25-30 minutes on foot or 13-17 minutes by tram M2 or M4. The nearest stop is Knaackstraße, just a few steps from the restaurant.
From Strassmannstraße, where two more of our Berlin apartments are located, you can reach Umami in Prenzlauer Berg in 28 minutes by tram M10.
Why Visit Umami & a word of caution
Visiting Umami is not just about enjoying a meal; it's about experiencing a unique place. The restaurant's location right opposite of the water tower under mature trees and beautiful lanterns is why we love this place. This is also why we particularly recommend this location and not the other two Umami locations that have been opened in the last years.
We highly recommend making a reservation in advance, as the restaurant is often very busy. Don't miss the chance to experience one of Berlin's culinary gems during your stay in our holiday apartments.
